java tomcat IDE platform

Hello all,

We may need to implement tomcat on x86 platform using
linux. Our choices are Suse, solaris x86, Sun Java
Desktop(sounds good).

Any suggestions of which platform & IDE environment is
more robust & popular? Right now I am using Netbeans4
on Mandrake10.1.
