Keyboard Failure

I am trying to help someone who has a SunFire V240 with Solaris 9
installed. It has a USB keyboard, USB mouse, and a monitor attached.

The problem started when he tried to install HP OpenView. He encountered
some problems during the install (he did not record them) and now the computer
does not accept keyboard input. Keyboard and mouse worked normally up until
this time.

During the boot process, no errors are reported until it checks the root
partition. The computer tries to do some repairs, but eventually tells us to
run "fsck" manually and shows the prompt to logon via the maintenance mode
(aka single user mode). Since the computer does not accept input from the
keyboard, the user is unable to logon.

We have also tried using Stop-A a various times during the boot process
with no success. In addition, we have tried to boot the computer with no disks
installed. When doing this we got the "OK" prompt, but still no input from the
keyboard was accepted.

I have not found anything in the archives that helps with this problem.
My thanks in advance for any help/suggestions that can be provided.

WR,
Greg Mani
