Sun Patch Manager 2.0 versus PatchPro 2.2

For Solaris 9/SPARC:

I'm trying to figure out the difference between:

   a. The smpatch utility (/usr/sbin/smpatch) and WBEM service that
Patch Manager 2.0 installs under Solaris 9

and

   b. PatchPro 2.2 and the smpatch tools under /usr/sadm/bin that
       are bundled with Solaris 9.

So far Patch Manager 2.0 seems to be the most straightforward in
terms of installation and usage.

However, /usr/sbin/smpatch complains about a WBEM incompatibility
when trying to install WBEM patch 112945-29.

Does anyone have opinions on which of the above methods (a or b)
is preferrable for patch management under Solaris 9?

Also, does anyone happen to know which of the above frameworks is
used under Solaris 10?

Thanks in advance.
