reinstall solaris on sun ultra 5

Hello

I have a sun ultra 5 which used to be a network host.
I'm currently trying to reinstall solaris 8 on this machine while it's
not connected to the network.

However, when I try to boot bs disk/cdrom the machine requests a root
password which I do not know. The normal boot disk/cdrom does not
work, the boot fails on the fact that there is no Ethernet link.

I'm currently out of ideas on how to reinstall solaris on this machine
or even boot the machine up without it complaining about "ethernet
link down".

Does anyone know a work around?
