Hello,
I installed Solaris 9, and patches, and softwares,
and printers and ... on a first Sun Blade 150.
Then I cloned this installation to a second Blade 150:
1. building same partitions: size, newfs;
2. do an ufsrestore from images build on the first Blade;
3. installboot.
This second Blade fails to boot:
Cannot assemble drivers for root /pci@1f,0/ide@d/disk@0,0:0
Cannot mount root on /pci@1f,0/ide@d/disk@0,0:0 fstype ufs
panic[cpu0]/thread=140a000: vfs_mountroot: cannot mount root
But it boots with: boot disk kadb
Booting from a Solaris CD, I compared the outputs of 'prtconf -v'.
The differences are:
------------- 1 -------------------
ide, instance #0
name='target1-dcd-options' type=int items=1 dev=none
value=000000a4 on the booting host
and value=000000a2 on failing host
------------- 2 -------------------
dimm-spd, instance #1
Driver properties:
name='size' type=int items=1 dev=(31,1)
value=00000100
only the failing host.
------------- 3 -------------------
value='DVD-ROM SR-8589' on the failing host
value='DVD-ROM SR-8588' on the booting host
------------- 4 -------------------
and of course the serial numbers of the IDE ST380011A disks:
value='id1,dad@AST380011A=5JV8JC2W'
or value='id1,dad@AST380011A=3JVA121M'
Is there a solution to clone a Blade on another one?
