Folks -
I have an old Ultra 2 system that hangs while booting.
We thought it might be a bad DIMM but POST passes just
fine so I ran a 'boot -a' and it hangs (the spinning
line stops and the system beeps once every minute or
something) after responding to the prompt for
Physical name of root device
After quite a while (like 30 minutes or so) it will boot up
but gives no error messages either onthe system console or
in the /var/adm/messages file.
So now I'm thinking that it might be a bad block or something
on the root partition. Does anyone know for sure?
Thanks in advance for any help,
Debbie
