Solaris 9 volume manager question

I just upgraded a machine from Solaris 8 running Solstice Disksuite with
a 150GB disk array.

The upgrade went fine and I can access my array via the command line.
When I try to access the array using the gui in
/usr/bin/smc When I click on This Computer --> Storage --> Disks it
prompts me to signon as root .... which I do
and then I get the Loadin Disk Tools Screen ... then I get Loading
Disks screen .... then I get an error

"Attempt to get a list of Disks failed with unexpected CIM error:
 CIM_ERR_FAILED"

Any light that could be shed on this would be great. I will summerize.

I loaded Solaris 9 from the iso images I downloaded from sun. I am
running on an E250
