X-server can not be started on display :0...

Hi all,

We run a NIS-server on a Sun Blade 100. We haven't had a monitor
attached to this machine for quite a while. I remember that we played
around with this machine to display the interface of applications on a
different machine. Now after weeks we reattached a monitor to the
machine and after a reboot we get

***************************************************
*
* The X-server can not be started on display :0...
*
***************************************************

and that's it. We can connect to the machine via telnet. How do we get X
up and running again, ideally without having to reboot the machine?

Thanks a lot,

    Andreas

BTW: I tried the following:

bash-2.03# echo $DISPLAY

bash-2.03#
