performance 3510FC

We recently got a 3510FC with 12 15K rpm disks and 2 cache controllers
with 1 gig of cache for our database server.
I set Write-Back Cache Enabled,Optimization for Random I/O, and
Maximum Queued I/O Count - 1024.
I went for Random I/O optimazation because of the smaller blocksize.
I created 2 logical drives of 6 drives each on the 3510, and created 2
partitions on each.
The partitions on the 1st logical drive were assigned to controller 1,
the one's on the other drive to the other controller.
The server the 3510 is connected to has 2 single port, 2 Gbit JNI fc
cards, congfigured for loop only.
I installed SAN_4.4.3_install_it to get the cards working.
Both the 3510 and the jni cards have the latests firmware level, and
the server is running a recent patch cluster.
I created regular ufs filesystems on the partitions, and enabled forcedirectio.
The performance i'm getting is rather poor.
When writing to a single filesystem i get about 600 random io write
operations per second maximum, reads max out at about 2000 random
io's.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how i can get more performance out
of this box?

Regards,

Rob
