280R: ALOM prompt at boot up will not go away

Hello
 
I have a 280R sun server, Solaris 9.
When I boot up, the server immeditely displays the Advanced Lights Out Manager promp (ALOM).
I have never seen this before.
Usually I have to hit the hash key, full stop + enter(#.) to get the ALOM prompt.
 
If I cannot log into the ALOM (lost password), how can I access the console session?
