Cloning boot drive

Hi gurus.

I'm interested in taking a mirrored drive under the control of SDS, and moving it to another system. I would like to do this with the system live if possible. Can I just remove the database replicas on the mirrored drive, remove the drive, put in a different, new hard drive, re-create the mirrors on the new drive and let them sync up? Then I can take the first drive I removed and install it in a different machine that is the identical hardware (220s). I did some research, but nothing exactly like this. However, I did find this post from a couple of years ago that seemed pretty good:

I was thinking a safer way, but with a longer downtime: is to take the system down, temporarily attach a netra with a third drive, and then come up single-user mode, dd to the disk in the netra. What do you all think? Thanks for the help!
