passwd(1) && NIS+

Hi all,

I have a bizarre problem whereby on a NIS+ client running
Solaris 8 2/02 s28s_u7wos_08a SPARC I issue passwd(1) and get a permission
denied error.

e.g

# passwd
passwd: Changing password for username
Permission denied

# nispasswd
nispasswd: Changing password for username
Permission denied

I can do usual things such as niscat(1) and nisping(1m).

The NIS+ server is Solaris 8 2/02 s28s_u7wos_08a SPARC.

Can anyone suggest what the problem could be or how I can attempt to debug
this problem further ?

Regards

 -aW
