read-only NFS

Hi Managers!

On my Solaris 9 box I mount a read-only NFS share /pub, which is located
on a Linux box. I can do anything on the mounted dir: cd, pwd, ls, cp, ...

The strange thing is that I can't use mc (midnight commander) in /pub.
That means the commander just "jumps" to / if I try to cd to /pub. Also,
directly running acroread on a pdf file (standing in /pub, using the
current dir), I get "ERROR: Cannot determine current directory". But
running acroread in my home dir, specifying the full path, I can read
the file. Pwd just works fine. What can cause this?

The same dir is mounted on other Linux boxes without any problem.

Regards,
Krisztian
