Hi,
I have a brand new, out of the box V240. It has been racked up
and I need to install our rollout of Solaris on it.
However, I am unable to tip into it to get into a console.
I have a cable, which is part # 530-2961-01 and an RJ45 to D25 adaptor
which is part # 530-2889-03 which are supposedly OK for this sort of thing.
I have connected the DB25 end of the cable to a V880, and the "hardwire"
port in /etc/remote checks out properly for tip connections.
The RJ45 end of the cable goes into the Serial Mgmt (LOM) port of the V240.
However, when I try to do a "tip hardwire" from the V880, I get the
"connected" message but then the terminal never gives me a prompt or
any kind of answer. I cannot type into the keyboard or send breaks.
I can still break out of the tip using the regular commands but I cannot
get a serial connection going on this box.
The V880 is patched for all the problems regarding serial port issues
and so on. I am now at a loss what to do.
This matter is becoming time dependant - I need to have this V240 up
by tomorrow and it is looking less likely.
I have tried combinations of cables and adaptors with the same part #'s
to ensure I don't have a dud.
Can someone please give me some advice - I have used serial ports
for years but this is the first time I have ever encountered a problem
like this that I cannot solve.
Thanks.....
