Hi,
We patched a number of servers yesterday, (mixture of SunFire 280 & 440's),
all running Solaris 8.
We patched with the latest Solaris 8 recommended patch cluster, the latest OBP
patch and disk firmware
for the internal disks only. These were mostly SEAGATE but there were two
servers with HITACHI too.
This was on the recommendations of SUN based on our explorer outputs for the
servers in question.
All servers are running Disksuite version 4.2.1,REV=1999.12.03.10.00 and the
disk firmware patches were the following :
SunFire 280 : 113668-04 (SEAGATE Disks)
SunFire 440 : 116369-05 (HITACHI Disks)
All appeared fine, all servers came back up and reported no errors. However
this morning we had the following
error in /var/adm/messages, and, although the metastat command showed no
errors, when I run metatool it shows
all disks, irrespective of what server type to be in a "Status: Critical".
One thing is that the error message below is only on the SunFire 440's but
both the 280 and 440 servers
have "Status : Critical" against their internal disks, viewed via metatool.
I do not know Disksuite very well and I have googled and looked at Sun
Managers but cannot find a solution.
My question is, is this just a flag that can be reset or is there something
seriously ammiss with the disks ?
Either way, help is gratefully appreciated.
As per normal, I will summarise, when I have the solution, that is.....
