Blocking factor 256 for ufsdump with DLT8000?

Hi All

I have a customer running Sol 9 on his system (U60). He has customers
also running Sol 9 (V240 amongst others). He has traditionally used a
blocking factor of 256 with ufsdump (since 2.6 days he thinks) with no
problems on other systems and this was recommended by Sun for DLT tape
drives.

The problem is that although this works fine for his customer's systems,
when he comes to read the tapes on his U60 system, it reports an error
straight away. If he then goes and puts the tape drive onto his
customers system it reads fine. Also if he tries to write using 256 on
the U60 it takes approx 4x longer to write the tape than with the
default for ufsdump.

It sounds like a buffer problem on the U60 system setup, but am unable
to find any info.

Anyone have any pointers?

Peter
