SUMMARY..RE: unrecognized option `-KPIC'

Thanks to all who replied. Sanjiv K. Bhatia got it.

In my make file I changed
OPTIMIZE = -xO3 -xdepend

to

OPTIMIZE = O3

and that did the trick.
