root file system

My root file system is full and I was trying to find out whether I could
extend it somehow, but I could not find a way to do so. Does anyone out there
know how I can go about it without, backing the system to tape, reorganise the
file system and restore the system. For a much clear understanding of where I
have bungled I have included the df output and a cut off from the format
output. Links to appropriate documentation is well come.

Please note that my disk was fully partioned.
