Can not reset NVRAM on sunfire880

Hi,

We have an issue with a development box (v880 solaris 8 , recent
OBP) and a lost rsc password which suffered a power failure.

The default input and output devices were set to the RSC hence I wish to
reset the NVRAM to gain access to the serial console.

The usual way of doing this is to wait until the maintenance LED flashed
during boot and depress the power button twice.

The problem I have is that even after waiting a long ( > 5 mins) time the
maintenance LED is not flashing.

All of the drives/fans were powered up and stayed powered up. I would be
obliged if anyone could point out where I am going wrong, I will summarise.

Many thanks

Andy Crichton.
