Solaris 7 unkillable Samba?

On a Solaris 7 box, smbd becomes unkillable for some reason, and is not
useful. The first time that this happened, I just rebooted the box
assuming that something funky had happened to Samba, and now it has
happened again - I'm reluctant to keep rebooting it since there seems to
be something wrong with Samba.

Ir ia currentlu refusing all connections that would be associated with
smbd (135, 137-139). Doing a pstack on smbd gives the following output:

bash-2.05$ sudo pstack 414
414: /usr/local/samba/bin/smbd
 ff216f08 _so_setsockopt (0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0) + 4
bash-2.05$

truss gives nothing, and pmap gives the following:

bash-2.05$ sudo pmap 414
414: /usr/local/samba/bin/smbd
