SUMMARY: (sort of) /proc can't be mounted at boot

Given the priority of having this machine up, the fact that I cannot find
any information on the problem, and the noise the disk is making, I am
assuming that the root disk is starting to fail and is corrupted. I am
re-building the machine, after which I will mount the failing disk and copy
over the few config files, etc. required for Oracle.

Regards,
Charles
