I installed some patches on Saturday morning on my Solaris 9 Ent 220R
server. The patches are listed at the end of this email. This server
has four Sun A1000 raid array's connected. One of these raid arrays
after I completed installing these patches seemed to have files
"missing". Some missing files were files created on Friday night. Other
files were from our document management system and there appears to be
nothing new since July 9th in there (V. unusual).
I can't see anything strange in the logs but this is extremely weird. I
have restored the files I have noticed from backup tape and I hope I am
not missing anything but am wondering if anyone has seen anything like
this before? I thought perhaps it might indicate that there was maybe
something wrong with the way I am shutting down and the server is not
writing out its cache properly but that doesn't explain the weeks worth
of data missing.
Any ideas on where I can start looking? This is really freaking me out
to the point that I'm scared to reboot again (it happened once before,
where an entire disk array became blank after a reboot but I didn't
install any patches that time - same disk actually now that i think
about it).
The disks respond fine to a healthck:
