Using AIT-2 after booting from CD

Hi *,

I have a SunBlade 100 with a AIT-2 tape drive hooked upto it running
Solaris 8. I have made my changes to st.conf and the drives works fine for
backups.

Now comes the problem, when it is time to restore the entire system, I need
to boot from CD and make changes to the st driver so it can recognize the
AIT2 tape drive properly.

My thought was to unload the st driver, modify st.conf and load the st
driver again. However, the filesystem is read only so any hopes of
modifying st.conf is gone.

Did a lot of searching around and didn't find anything except the above
(which doesn't work) steps of actually using the tape drive. Other
suggestions were to use a seperate boot partition which I would like to
avoid.

Any other ideas? I will continue to search hopefully I can find something
soon.

Thanks and will summarize.

Regards,
Marco
