Hello,

we have some Ultra60 boxes that had this configuration:

CPU UltraSPARC-II 360MHz
Solaris2.6 rel 3/98 (Kernel patch 105181-23)
security and recommended patches

Few weeks ago we had to upgrade the CPU to UltraSPARC-II 450MHz, and now we should upgrade Solaris2.6 to rel 5/98 in order to have a configuration compatible with the new CPU. We have some doubts about this upgrade:

Will the upgrade remove our patches?
What are the differences (packages and patches) between the 2 releases?
Will the upgrade change our system files (passwd, system fiel, dns files, etc..)?
Is better to reinstall the whole o.s. using first the Operating environment installation cd or can we perform a simpler upgrade?

Thank you,
Enrico
