We are currently doing performance benchmarks between F4800 & F4900 ( the
latest dual core box sun came out with ). Surprisingly our sybase ( 12.5/32
bit ) tests are running slower or even with the F4800.
F4900 was supposed to perform at least 1.5 times faster than the F4800 -
The question is - has anyone done any perf comparisons between these two
boxes? Are there any specific variables that was tuned to use the dual-core
cpu technology?
Our test cases are - bunch of transactions ( trade processing ) during give
time T and doing database dumps to compare the IO subsystem.
I am running solaris 8 02/04 release.
Any information will be greatly appreciated - Will summarize
