Thanks to William Hathaway and Douglas Bell who both pointed me to the Sun
document that explains the real (ridiculous) situation. I'm getting hold
of these shortened-locking-tab cables as soon as I
can to see what they're like. Will think twice about ordering any
more Quad Gigabit cards next time, though.

Thanks,

Original Question:
-- Hi, I've just taken delivery of some V240s and V480s with Quad Gigaswift ethernet cards (X4444A) already installed, but I can't get the locking tabs on my patch cables to click in, there's not enough clearance at the edge of the PCI slot. I've complained to my supplier that the card is mis-aligned and they've come back to me to say that it is a known problem and we should use cables without locking tabs. I find this unacceptable, and can't believe it's true. Has any one else had a similar problem ?. If I can't lock the cables off I'm gonna send the stuff back.
