The Sun Blade 150 running Solaris 8 (SPARC) that we use to burn DVDRWs
with has started behaving badly. After burning the DVDRW it then does a
"Fixating" process which takes AGES - 400 plus seconds - and almost
stops the machine and then the machine crashes out of Gnome or CDE and only
strange characters are visible on the display when you type. Any network
connections are lost and I can only sync and reboot from the Stop-A prompt.
I have changed the DVD writer, tried different disks, installed the latest
DVDRecord-Pro and licence from the author's website and re-installed
Gnome. There are no messages in /var/adm/messages.
Has anyone come across this before? Any suggestions? This machine needs
to be up and running again fairly fast...
