Large backup considerations

Hi everyone.

Excuse me if this question is not directly related to Sun systems, but
I think people here can give me some hints on backup setup.
The general problem I'm looking at is how to organize tape pools for
our backups to avoid tape fragmentation thus making recovery as fast
as possible.

Some words about our site.
We are setting up a Qentralized backup using Legato Networker and
PowerVault 136T tape library (6 LTO-2 drives) for relatively large
site, 100+ hosts with 3+Tb of total storage. Backup server is atached
to the gigabit Ethernet LAN so there is no network bottlenecks.

My current idea is to...
- use one shared tape pool for all client boxes with have less than
10Gb of used storage. Because relatively small amount of data per
client, tape fragmentation will not slow down recovery significialy.
- use dedicated tape pool for every host with more than 200Gb of used storage.
- group everything else somehow and use one shared tape pool for every
group of hosts.

So, the questions are:
do I facing troubles with such setup? Is there better way?
Any hints, URLs, real life examples are welcome.
