Hello Gurus,,

I have Sun-Fire-880 system. I also have HP DDS-4 DAT (Sun) tape drive
connected to it. My problem is I couldn't able to write on it. I am
executing the following command.

# tar cvf /dev/rmt/0 /etc/passwd
tar: permission denied.

And the output of #mt stat is

HP DDS-4 DAT (Sun) tape drive:
    sense key(0x7)= Write Protected residual= 0 retries= 0
    file no= 0 block no= 0

Although , it was write protected. But now i have removed the write
protection. But to my surprise, it should give me an error of " write
protection error" and it is giving me of " permission denied".

Any help is appreciated.

Regards
Amit Gupta
