Hi folks,
I am currently trying to debug some Solaris 8
fax software.
This has now hung the serial port. I cannot
kill the process with -9.

>From sunsolve, I found the solution below, to clear
the hang without a reboot.

The output of sacadm -l on the host is:
# sacadm -l
PMTAG PMTYPE FLGS RCNT STATUS COMMAND
zsmon ttymon - 0 ENABLED /usr/lib/saf/ttymon #

This host is a V440 production server that users connect to via telnet.
My question is:
Can I perform the disable and then enable of zsmon without affecting
anyone currently logged in ?

Thanks again.

4. Relief/Workaround
It might be possible to gain access to the port by disabling and then enabling
the port monitor using the following command sequence:

To disable the port monitor:

        sacadm -d -p <PMTAG>
To enable the port monitor:

        sacadm -e -p <PMTAG>
Use "sacadm -l" to determine the name for PMTAG.

If the above does not work the systen will need to be rebooted inorder to
access the serial port.
