There are lots of "Link down cable problem" in the messages file and after I checked the /etc/inet/hosts file, it contains lots of IP adresses for the system

The sun box
is loosing its connection from the network: No response from ethernet network:
Link down cable problem??? Internal Transciever Selected 100Mbs
full duplex link up. This message is written hundreds times
into the messages files to be able get rid of this message I disconnected
its cable and then I checked files. /etc/inet/hosts conatins lots of entries for
the system and furthermore, the format of the file has been ruined.

Is there anyone to have the idea what the reason is that?
