Can ufsdump data to LTO tape, but can't read it back.????

     Folks-

I have three new Sun Fire 880s, three new Sun L9 tape
libraries containing Ultrium LTO tape drives, and three boxes of
Fuji LTO tapes that we also purchased from Sun. I have been running
test backups and restores to ensure that I can recover data reliably
from backups. I've only opened about 10 tapes at this point. I
have discovered that on one particular tape I can use ufsdump (with
the -v option to verify the data write) to create a ufsdump file
that cannot be read back on any of the L9 machines.

Let me reiterate: I can ufsdump, with verification, on any of the
three L9 machines, and I cannot read back the data from this particular
tape on any of the three L9 machines.

I find it very scary that I can backup data using the verify
option, and that the ufsdump process indicates that the data have
been reliably written to the tape, and that I cannot subsequently
read back the data.

I've started a case with Sun for the problem, but I don't know
whether anyone else has seen this problem. I don't know whether this
problem is specific to one particular tape or whether this problem
will occur on one in every 10 LTO tapes. If you have seen this
problem or want more detail, please let me know.

     Thanks.
