Hi Al
As ever the best group for replies.
A couple of suggestions which did not change it, but may help someone else
1)
Try this out
/etc/init.d/nscd stop
/etc/init.d/nscd start
2)
I know that it may sound silly. But did you check your nsswitch.conf? I
got that error when I had :
passwd: nis files
So I changed it to:
passwd: files nis
and now everything is working smoothly...
The last one from Ryan A. Krenzischek sorted it out
Turns out someone before my time I guess had changed the permissions on
/usr/bin and the setgid bit was not set on su command, hence the cryptic
message.
So a quick
chmod 4555 /usr/bin/su
sorted it.
Thanks everyone
Peter
Hi All
Anyone point me in right direction to this one.
System is Sol 2.6 running as NIS master on private network.
I can login as root or other user fine, however when I login as a user
and then try to su to any other user eg root, then enter the password, I
get
su: Invalid GID
and it kicks me out.
I cannot truss it, so am stumped as my other system works fine .....
Any ideas?
Peter
