Hello managers,
I am having Solaris & Tru64 servers based network with HP-Jetdirect
printers, OKI Printers & EPS printers. What my problem is, when I
configure any printer queue, if I give any print command for any deskjet
printer connected in place of above mentioned printers to my print
server, then it prints fine. But as and when I connect any of these
printers, I am not able to print using the queue created by me.
There are some port settings like P1/P1/text/text1/pr/pr5/pr6/pr7 blah
blah.... In such printers which needs to be defined while creating print
queues. I need to know the exact funda as to when port id will be
/P1/text/text1/pr/pr5/pr6/pr7.
In Solaris 8: (extracts of
/etc/lp/printers/<print-queue-name>/configuration file)
$ cat conf*
Banner: off
Content types: any
Device: /dev/null
Interface: /usr/lib/lp/model/netstandard
Printer type: unknown
Modules:
Options: dest=smg00y.als.europe.itl.com:SMG00Y_P1,protocol=bsd
$
(Doubt: On what basis SMG00Y_P1 port is defined)
In Tru64: (extract of /etc/printcap file)
>cat /etc/printcap
sin011m0:\
:ct=remote:\
:lf=/var/spool/lpd/errors/sin011m0.err:\
:lp=:\
:mx#0:\
:rm=sin011t0.als.europe.itl.com:\
:rp=text:\
:sd=/usr/spool/lpd/sin011m0:\
:sh:
(Doubt: On what basis rp=text or any other value like text1,pr,pr5,pr6
etc can be defined)
One more thing, in one jetDirect printer, I found its configuration
settings as below:
# telnet chn032n.als.europe.itl.com
Trying 158.32.84.212...
Connected to chn032n.chn.pacific.firmenich.com.

Any pointer in this regard will be extremely helpful for me.
Thanks in advance,
