30 partitions on a single disk

I am replacing an old homedir server. The old server had an A100 array full
of 1,2, and 4gig disks. (Yes, it is ancient). Each disk was its own
partition and was an individual's home directory. I am replacing this
with a shiny new V480 running Solaris 9 with a couple of S1 arrays attached,
and one of those disks is a 72gig disk that I want to put all of the home
directories in. Since everyone has gotten used to their homedir being its
own partition, I would like to preserve that on the new system. But that
will require me to have 30-odd partitions on a single disk. SDS uses the
underlying UFS filesystem, so I unfortunately cannot use it. I can put a
Veritas filesystem on there, but I am curious what other options folks
would suggest here. TIA, and I will summarize.
