IP conflict with itself!...

Hi Folks,

Several times already, I've noticed a strange system message in
/var/adm/messages. I don't have the exact phrase on hand, but here's what
it tells:

WARNING: host with MAC address nn:nn:nn:nn:nn:nn trying to be our
"server_name" with IP address xx.xx.xx.xx.

An IP conflict.

Problem is that the MAC address which is shown IS INDEED the
"server_name"'s one!

As the network this server is in (by a customer) is sometimes producing
stange behaviour, I'm only half surprised. For other reasons we're already
suspecting their Cisco switches configuration and we already found some IP
duplicates in their LAN, but this message is odd. Could it be the tcp/ip
stack on server getting initialised over the existing one? What could be a
possible cause then?...

Does anyone have already seen this behaviour?

Thanks in advance, Eric
