simple script not working on soalris 9

hi all,
i had created one scripts or changin directory from one location to another location
what i did is ,
created one file with follwoing commad
 
vi p
cd /var/adm
wq!
 
chmod 755 p
then i exected this but path not changaing
 
please help me why its happening
