ok, before there is a Congressional Resolution against me, let me say, I
should not have inserted that comment. it was innappropriate in this
forum, and the unstated reference to Reagan was felt by too many.

---- I wrote ----
ok, embarassing. Since State & Federal in U.S. practically shut down for
mourning (pretend it's all for Ray Charles -- that's a real cultural
loss), I took the opportunity to come in early and take down the server.
------ end ------

I've copied below a message I sent to someone who objected strongly to
my comment. I've removed any references to anyone else or what anyone
else said. This is simply my apology. sans politics, if that is possible.

my apologies.

my father was career military with medals in the pacific and korea. got
a 21 gun solute at the military cemetary in Denver when he died. but, he
also had already been "dead" for years when he died. my mother put
herself out even more than Nancy, because we didn't have money for care.
when he died, I was relieved, because I knew it removed a lot of drain
and pressure from my mother. Reagan was basically already dead. Hasn't
been in public, photographed, or televised for years. My wife's
grandmother was like that too. She lived to 103 in a home for the elderly.

Are you into music at all?

Anyone who listens to, or cares about music, can't help but cry to hear
that Ray Charles died yesterday at the age of 73. He poured out so much
caring and soul that he touched and uplifted millions. He rose from a
poor southern black background, blind at the age of 7, overcame
incredible odds, and gave a message of hope to all of us. He created
soul music by bringing gospel and religion into popular music.

All I was saying was that I felt Ray Charles passing away. Reagan was
gone long ago.
