Performance Issue with SAN's

Hello

We are having a performance issue with an LSI SANS ( Controller 2772 on
2400 array). When dumping a data base (* sybase ) to the SAN's we get a
through put of 10meg/sec or less
. When we dump to an A5100, we get a throughput of 21meg/sec. The SANS is
going through a 2800 switch and the A5100 is direct connect. One would
think the switch , but we saw the same performance when the SAN's was
connected directly to the E3500.

Here is the config.

Solaris 8
Veritas 3.5
JNI 1473 in a E3500 - to a Brocade 2800 to a LSI SAN's ( all at 1gig ) (
SAN's is raid 5 )
Sbus GBIC IN a E3500- direct to A5100

I have tried editing the /etc/system as JNI recommends for performance and
it made little to no difference.

We have tried ufs and vxfs with no change.

Any thoughts as to why there is such a marked difference. Any help is
greatly appreciated

Thanks
Richard Bonfoey
