Dear all knowledgable people,
I want to set-up up a nisclient as a root replica.
I checked that the machine was OK with nis, by checking that it could read
the password field in passwd.org_dir, which it could.
Next, I started rpc.nisd on this machine, called c.
Then on the root master I ran nisserver and got the results below:
[root@a]/root$ /usr/lib/nis/nisserver -v -R -d cl.gemini.edu. -h c
checking cl.gemini.edu. permission ...
This script sets up an NIS+ replica server for domain
cl.gemini.edu.
Domain name : cl.gemini.edu.
NIS+ server : c
Is this information correct? (type 'y' to accept, 'n' to change) y
nis_servers: ALLSERVERS= a.cl.gemini.edu. ...
This script will set up machine "c" as an NIS+
replica server for domain cl.gemini.edu. without NIS compatibility.
The NIS+ server daemon, rpc.nisd, must be running on cpocsw
with the proper options to serve this domain.
Do you want to continue? (type 'y' to continue, 'n' to exit this script) y
running nismkdir ...
can't add replica: Passed object is not the same object on server.
**ERROR: it failed to replicate the groups_dir directory.
The machine c was a replica afore, but I thought that I had deleted it
correctly. Anyone have any ideas?
Regards,
Simon.
