Ufsrestore

Hi all,

This has me a little stumped ... Haven't used ufsrestore in years, and can't seem to get a file back from tape, which is a little worrying .....

Anyway, I backed up about 70gb worth of data to 2 x 40gb DDS4 tapes .. The backup worked fine and I have logs to say that it did as well.

Anyway, I have tried a couple of restore options, without any luck .... Firstly I tried an interactive restore using the first tape I backed up to, like this -

# ufsrestore -ivf /dev/rmt/0

When I get the ufsrestore prompt, I try to "cd" to the directory where the file is, and it tells me it's not on that tape, which I suspected, as I thought it would be on the second tape.

So, I load the 2nd tape and when I try and run the above command, it tells me that it's not the first volume, and doesn't allow me into the interactive restore prompt .. Is this normal ?

Also I tried restoring just that file with -

# ufsretore -xvf /dev/rmt/0 /some/file/to/restore

This restored nothing, although it seems to ...

Any suggestions here would be appreciated ... Thanks

Trev
