Trying to pipe TAR job through openSSH

Hello all!

Here's a general idea of what Im trying to figure out...

tar cvp - /EXPORT/FILE | ssh "backupz@XX.X.XX.XXX > tar cvf /dev/rmt/0 -"

tar from linux box, copy into memory, transfer via ssh, copy out of
memory, write DIRECTLY to tape device on solaris 7 (patched to current)

here are my "have done's"
1. openssh 3.1p2 on both machines
2. have already setup key based authentication (and tested it for shell
access)
3. have gnu-tar on both machines

here are my "cant do's"

1. cant put data temporarily on disk of sun box (its a pair of mirrored
tiny 1gb disks)
2. cant NFS mount the other server (the cluster would have to be dropped)

thanks in advance for any help!

-Phil
