Folks,
Moved some old slave server form old NIS domain "OLD" to new NIS domain
"NEW" the usual way ( modified /etc/defaultdomain, ypinit -c, ypstart)
All maps are read successfully, everything work fine
1. When master server for Domain "OLD" was turned off some clients would
receive messages
ypbind[29507]: [ID 337329 daemon.error] NIS server not responding for
domain "OLD"; still trying
I thought it was very puzzling. tried the YPINIT again, caching demon
restart, etc. No luck.
2.Next deleted the /var/yp/bindings/"old" directory
Started getting the following messages:
May 11 15:12:43 usess200ess30 ypbind[28175]: service not installed, use
/usr/sbin/ypinit -c
3. The only way to get rid of all odd messages was to change
/var/yp/bindings/"old"/ypserver file to point to master server for
"NEW" NIS domain.
Does anyone knows how to successfully "UN INSTALL" the old domain from
theses slaves.
It only occurs on 20% of the machines.
Will summarize
