Ultra 5 NVRAM problems

Hi,

I have an Ultra 5 who's NVRAM won't keep variables. My guess is the lithium
battery is dead. Now I see that the battery and NVRAM is one unit. Is there
a way to replace just the battery? Is it true if you get a replacement that
you have to get it programmed with the serial number, machine id etc for it
to work properly? Anyone else experience this before?

TIA,

Ray
