Moving boot disks across platforms - howto?

I have a stable of Netra T1/105's that, when I've needed to provision,
I've configured a pair of disks (using Solaris Disksuite, too) on a
separate T1/105 sandbox and then moved the disks to the target chassis.

I've also used this approach to pre-configure spare boot/system drives
such that if I lost a drive (or machine) I could essentially provision a
new one in minutes and (if appropriate) resync the mirrors.

This has worked fine so long as I'm dealing with T1/105's, but I tried
to use this same method to provision a v240 and (not surprisingly) ran
into all kinds of problems ranging from different device targets in
/etc/vfstab to different ethernet drivers (hme vs bge.)

If you were trying to move disks to/from different machines (let's
assume the platforms are the same - SPARC in this case,) what steps
would you take to avoid this kind of problem?
