We had a vendor upgarde some systems from Solaris 2.5 to Solaris 8 last
week.
Now mail does not work from teh new machines. The machines are
(deliberatly) nt in our DNS, so mai from them has always been a bit
starnge. mail from them goes to a dedicalted mail machine, and it's in the
hosts file like this:
170.85.109.23 pmail.xxxx.com pmail mailhost
I'm seeing errors like this in /var/log/syslog:
May 1 04:13:01 AW0550 sendmail[23504]: [ID 801593 mail.crit] NOQUEUE: SYSERR(ro ot): /etc/mail/sendmail.cf: line 77: fileclass: cannot open '/etc/mail/local-hos t-names': Group writable directory
May 1 04:13:01 AW0550 sendmail[23504]: [ID 801593 mail.crit] NOQUEUE: SYSERR(ro ot): /etc/mail/sendmail.cf: line 492: fileclass: cannot open '/etc/mail/trusted- users': Group writable directory
So, I'm geussing that /etc/mail has the wrong permissions. It's
drwxr-xr-x 2 root mail 512 May 6 2002 /etc/mail
So, what should it be?
Or is htis not the problem at all?
