hi,
i am having an e3500 with 8 internal hardisks...two fiber loops on LA & UA,2
system boards in slot 3 & 7, one graphics solt 1, one I/O board slot 5.....
running sun os 5.5.1...
the fiber cables for the internal hdds are in slots LA & UA on the
Interface bord & connect to an I/O board & Graphics Board.
Now the graphics board in slot 1 has gone faulty as indicated by system Post
result ... hence my system used to hang intermittanly.... but now the system
is refusing to boot up & shows only 4 disks on "probe-fcal-all".
the internal harddisks are mirrored (Solstice Disksuite) to each other (i.e.
controller 0 with controller 2).so i tried to boot from the alternate
mirror_boot disk ....now the system starts to boot & then abruptly comes to
single user mode.
# who -r
shows the system is in run level 5....
I am not getting it since the system is mirrored i thought it shld boot up
with the mirrors... & shld it come to level 5 ?
# metastat
it shows only root disk mirror neeeding maintainance and rest of the mirrors
are in "ok" state inspite of having subdisks in mirror on the disks which
are not showing in
ok probe-fcal-all
# format
now i am thinking of breaking the mirrors & booting up the sytem... would
the E3500 require any special steps for making it boot through "disk 4" on
controller 2 ... or how can i make my system to boot upto multi-user mode
since one of the submirrors of all mirrors are on disks which show up.
any help is appreciated
