notify users about password expiry

I am looking for some programs to notify users about their "upcoming" password
expiry. I set everyone's password to expire in 60 days and give the users a
warning 10 days earlier. So, now when the users login to the Unix servers,
they see the message that "Your password is going to expire in n days."
However, the problems some of the users do not login regularly to Unix
servers.

So, now we decide to set up a script and notify the users 10 days before the
password expiry. How do I do that. I know that /etc/shadow has a field "last
change" which lists the number of days passed since the user changed the
password after Januray 1, 1970. However, it is tricky to do the calculations.

So, I am trying to find out whether there is already a script out there which
does the same thing - send an email to the user 10 days before it expires.
