Removal of CDE

Can CDE packages be removed if you are not using CDE on your system?

I have an ULTRA5 running Solaris 8 and Gnome 1.4,

I do use some of the cde applications such as audiocontrol but not CDE in
General. Would there be any adverse affects if CDE was removed??
