statd: cannot talk to statd at variable

Admins,

Yesterday evening we applied the following patches to both nodes of our Sun
cluster (Sun cluster 3.0 - Solaris 8).
111118-10 (Vxvm) Reboot
108528-29 Patch kernel
109885-14
111883-24
108974-38
109657-09

Everything went fine, except that the above message repeated several times
on both nodes:
Apr 2 16:26:07 <node> statd[10114]: [ID 766906 daemon.warning] statd:
cannot talk to statd at <nfs server>, RPC: Timed out(5)

Both nodes are NFS client and server:
      - they deliver NFS FS to HP-UX 11.11 servers
      - they use exported FS from HP-UX 11.11 servers

We found the following solution on the internet:
http://www.antioffline.com/solerrors.html#korea195
In this article they recommend to remove all the content of /var/statmon/sm
and /var/statmon/sm.bak directories and then restart statd or/and lockd or
reboot the machine.
This solved the pb temporary but the error message appeared again about
30mn after.

We didn't worry that much when we left because all services were delivered
(nfs import/export).
We also noticed that this message already happened before patches
application (/var/adm/messages.*).

But today when I connected to check that everything was fine, the same
error messages was there again and moreover one node does not access HP
exported FS => he is not client anymore.

I found an explanation:
http://sunsolve.sun.com/pub-cgi/retrieve.pl?doc=fsalert%2F27483
But the doesn't mach because patch 110648-08 is already present on the
machine.

Do you have an idea of what I can do to solve the Pb ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Sabrina Lautier
